Vintage tone lovers, take note. This 1954 Martin Style A Mandolin is a rare and refined example of mid-century craftsmanship, offering all the charm and character of a well-aged instrument with the reliability of Martin’s storied build quality. Built with a solid spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides, this flat-backed, teardrop-shaped A-style mandolin is ladder-braced and oval-holed for a warm, woody tone with great sustain and round articulation. The neck is mahogany and meets the body at the 12th fret with a traditional dovetail joint, topped with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard that shows honest playwear from decades of use. Pearl dot inlays guide the way up all 20 frets. The Brazilian rosewood bridge, stamped metal tailpiece, and open-gear strip tuners with white buttons are all original and fully functional. Aged gracefully, this mandolin shows checking across the nitrocellulose finish and some visible fingerboard wear, consistent with its 70-year history. Includes its original chipboard case, making this an ideal collector piece or an inspiring addition to any serious players stable. Vintage Martins like this dont come around often.
